Abstract
Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies (LAEs) could be the best available probes of the Epoch of Reionization (EoR), but a better understanding of which galaxy properties allow the photon to escape is needed. I present the preliminary results of a stellar-population analysis of 83 Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies (LAEs) detected by the Hobby Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment at 2 < z < 3.5. I study their global properties and explore which properties impact the strength of Lyman-alpha emission. I also provide a method for connecting emission-line detections from the blind spectroscopic survey to imaging counterparts. I place this LAE sample in the context of other samples compiled using narrow-band and spectroscopic selection, and I comment on correlations between galaxy properties and emission strength. Finally, I introduce a direct test of predicting Lyman-alpha emission from galaxies in the EoR.
