Quasar researchInvest in the Future of the Department of Astronomy

Housed within the College of Natural Sciences, the Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin provides training at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral level.

As state and federal support for higher education continues to decline, UT Austin relies on the generosity of its alumni, friends and supporters to fund high-quality education and support distinguished research programs like those carried out in the Astronomy Department. This private support is critical to the success of faculty and students and allows the department to provide students with educational experiences beyond what can be accomplished with state and federal funding alone.

Outright gifts, seed funding, foundation support and long-term investments by way of endowments and estate planning will be the key to continuing ground-breaking academic research and to developing the scientific leaders of tomorrow.

Explore the ways to invest in the department’s future that suits your desire to give back. We are seeking undergraduate support, graduate student support, and investments in initiatives such as the Giant Magellan Telescope.

Ways to Give

Make an Online Gift
Access the convenience of secure online giving through the University's giving page. The website allows you to make gifts using your credit card and tell us how your gift is to be used for support of the Department of Astronomy.

Matching Gifts
Does your company match gifts to UT Austin? Most matches are dollar-for-dollar (1:1), effectively doubling — or in some cases tripling - the value of donors’ gifts. Some companies match the gifts of retirees and spouses as well as those of active employees.

Endowments and Gift Planning
Endowed gifts and gifts made to the department through gift planning create a legacy and support UT astronomy for generations to come.
