Studies of Submillimeter Galaxies at different (sub-)millimeter wavelengths
Abstract:
Dusty star-forming galaxies at high redshift, as those called Submillimeter Galaxies, are a key population for understanding galaxy formation and evolution. However, the limitations of submm technology and observations have prevented us from achieving a complete understanding of their physical properties, in addition to the biases associated with selection effects. Here, we present new deep observations at 450 um and 850 um in the EGS field taken with the SCUBA-2 camera mounted on the JCMT as part of the SCUBA-2 Cosmology Legacy Survey, as well as photometric and spectroscopic observations achieved with the LMT as part of the Early Science Phase. This new data set allows us to derive different physical properties such as luminosities, star formation rates, redshifts, etc., and to study the possible biases associated with this kind of observations.
