Abstract
The Fifth Sloan Digital Sky survey has been observing since 2020 and will produce its first large data release in Summer 2025. The Milky Way Mapper is observing stars across the HR diagram to investigate the chronology of the Galaxy and its satellites, the multiplicity of stellar systems and the effect of stellar physics on Galactic populations. I will review the key science questions, discuss research highlights, and present the exciting contents of the upcoming data release.
